OFF-CAMPUS SECURITY

DSK ACQUAAH FOR SRC PRESIDENT 2021

🕔 TUESDAY 13TH JULY, 2021

Daniel Silas Kwabena ACQUAH-DSK, an SRC PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT in this year's race has also spoken on off-campus security as other aspirants have done.

DSK writes ✍️

(Stations, All-time patrol and Periodic forums)

If I am given the shortest term to serve, my basic duty would be to protect the life and property of every student. I believe that this in effect would provide grounds for smooth academic work and for the implementation of other policies.

The issue of hanging off- campus security has been the conversation for years now and is  alarming as such. The worrying part of this is the fact that the least is done after the agitations to buy proper security.

Today the student’s cry is the fear of being attacked and oppressed by robbers especially during the late hours and in that regard, I CALL ON THE SRC SPEAK!

Problems and Solutions

Q. How do we find security in our localities off campus?

ANS: There should be security stations like the Kotei police kiosk close to the government school and that at Bomso beside Ultimate hostel in all other localities off-campus that will employ the services of the university’s security force, KNUST police and if necessary, additionally employ the services of the private security enterprises (G4S, First watch security). The duty of the security will be regular patrol and to ensure smooth movement of students at all times.

Q.How do we stay ahead of the robbers?

ANS:Security first of all depends on the individual to be protected. This calls for periodic forum to sensitize our people on how to stay safe, places to approach when they feel an approaching attack and learn more on newly devised ways to rob. During the forum, all minutes and report will be forwarded to the KNUST police station for checks and support.

TEAM DSK is poised to make student voices a priority. Our Leadership quota can be Re-written  to suit the KNUST STUDENT

This is the moment to BELIEVE ,LET’S REWRITE- KNUST
