IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING

Date: 27th June,2021

A couple of days back, KNUST School authorities issued an ultimatum compelling students who owed fees to pay their fees or risked being denied to write the midsem . It took the timely intervention of SRC President, Master Samuel Sesah, to lead the charge to 'fight' the University authorities. The results of his timely advocacy will allow the affected students to write the midsems even though they owed school fees.

The SRC leadership, led by Master Samuel Sesah, and the NUGS leadership, led by Ms. Sabrina Ameyaw, placed in extra efforts to see the payments of the fees of some students. The challenge now is, we foresee the University authorities continuing this process in the future denying students who owe fees the chance to sit for their end of semester exams.

To avert such occurrences, my running mate, Master Louis Ahenkorah Duah , and I, have had constant engagements with some stakeholders to provide some form of solution.

Even though the SRC and NUGS helped, there are a lot more students owning fees than those they paid for who have no idea how they are going to pay those fees. It is not that these students have the money and aren't paying the fees. They just don't have the means!

The Students Loans provide an immediate solution. My running mate and I have had meetings with the leadership of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) to ensure students secure these safe, low interest loans to pay their fees. The SLTF works such that you only pay back the money, when it can be deducted later from your salaries when you are done with school and have started working.
