Georgetown University, USA Donates Assorted Books To KNUST Faculty Of Law
The Faculty of Law of Georgetown University, USA, has donated 500 assorted law books to the Faculty of Law library, KNUST.
According to Mr. Micheal Sakyi Boateng, the college librarian, the donation was facilitated by Mrs. Nadine Pinamang Nartey, a staff at the Faculty of Law, Georgetown University, and a granddaughter of Dr. Daniel Amponsah, popularly called Agya Koo Nimo, who showed interest in assisting the KNUST Faculty of Law. He noted that the kind gesture was because of the relationship that has existed between Agya Koo Nimo and KNUST over the years.
Presenting the books on behalf of his granddaughter and Georgetown University, Agya Koo Nimo hoped that the books donated would serve as future reference materials for students and prospective students of the KNUST Faculty of Law.
The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor (Mrs.) Lydia Apori Nkansah in her remarks noted that the donation is a significant contribution to enhancing legal education at KNUST and Ghana. ‘The 500 assorted law books donated are relevant and cover every area of law which are essential reference materials for the respective courses we teach at the Faculty,’ she added.
Professor Nkansah expressed gratitude to Agya Koo Nimo’s family for their efforts in ensuring the delivery of the books to the Law Faculty swiftly to serve students and staff.
She finally assured the donors of the staff and students’ commitment to keeping the books in its best shape and making it a useful resource material for their teaching and learning.
The President of the Law Students Union (LSU), Mr Obiri Yeboah, on behalf of the students appreciated the donors for donating books relevant to their programme of study.
The presentation was made during a short ceremony on Tuesday, 13th July 2021 at the Sir Arku Korsah Law Library.
Present at the ceremony were the University Librarian, Dr. Samuel Nikoi Kotei, the Registrar of the Faculty Mrs. Abigail Dzama Anderson, Heads of Departments of Law, LSU Patron, Lecturers, and students of the Faculty.
