NATIONAL COMMUNICATION AUTHORITY RELEASES THE MINIMUM DEVICE SPECIFICATIONS FOR SIM REGISTRATION APP

THE USAGE OF GHANA CARD TO COMMENCE VERY SOON

In line with the directives from the Government of Ghana on the new modalities for sim registration in the country, all stakeholders are hereby directed to comply with the new and only requirement for sim registration-The GHANA IDENTITY CARD. All identity cards have been jettisoned by the government except the GHANA CARD[ECOWAS IDENTITY CARD].

As at now, over 15 million Ghanaians have been issued the Ghana Identity Card and still counting so this new modality is not expected to cut down work flow. For every foreigner coming into the country for up to 90 days is expected to use their international passport for sim registration.

MINIMUM DEVICE SPECIFICATIONS FOR SIM REGISTRATION APP

In a letter from NCA to Operators dated 17th August,2021 signed by Joe Anokye, the Director General of the NCA, the National Communication Authority refers to the sim registration exercise which is scheduled to commence in October,2021 and the need for a minimum device specification for the sim registration app.
