Vodafone Ghana Foundation Donates To KNUST Food Bank

Vodafone Ghana Foundation (VGF) has donated food and assorted items to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Food Bank. The donation was held in a short ceremony at the forecourt of the J. Harper building.

The items donated included cartons of milo, milk, soap, tomato paste, indomie noodles, toilet rolls, bags of rice, sugar, shoes, clothes, and other items at an undisclosed amount.

Receiving the items on behalf of management, the Deputy Registrar, Legal and Welfare Division, Ms. Lucy Diawuo thanked Vodafone Ghana Foundation (VGF) for their support to ease the burden of students especially in this era of Covid-19.

“The KNUST Food Bank was established to eradicate extreme hunger and ensure access to food by every needy student on campus”, she said. She added that the KNUST Food Bank relies on donations from individuals and organizations. She called on other benevolent individuals and corporate societies to support this worthy course.

Ms. Gloria Ofosu-Kusi, a representative from the Foundation, said that the donation is an employee-led initiative supported by VGF. The Foundation has introduced several initiatives to drive its new strategic objective of becoming a technology-oriented Foundation, combining charity work with technology to deliver transformational projects that improve and enhance the living conditions of Ghanaians. She assured that the Foundation would not relent to offer support to students especially when it comes to the use of digital education.

Vodafone Ghana Foundation is the CSR arm of Vodafone Ghana which was launched in 2009 to support sustainable initiatives that drive social change, improve people’s lives, and solve pressing social needs.
